Lighting is everything in photography. The better your light is, the better the photo will be. In this photo Wendy has managed to capture some beautiful warm light for this scene. The light is predominantly reflected light from the surrounds. It’s quite yellow which could be because of the white balance setting it was shot in or perhaps it was natural, or both.
Wendy has blurred the subjects sitting on the outer edges of the frame. In doing so we get the feeling of peeking through to get a secret look at the plants. It’s almost as if the negative space around the plants indicate some kind of special qualities about them.
The old stool that the plants are placed on goes nicely with the concrete wall and stone pavement. It gives the feeling of a rustic, country life, leading us to imagining this photo was taken in Southern France or somewhere else like it.
A great shot indeed. Well done Wendy!
