July 2011: Photo Comp Results

Winning Photo

Theme: “My Favourite Beach”

NikonD40x, f/4, 1/60s, ISO 100, 18-250@18mm

Why Jenny Won:

Jennys use of colour and composition are the two things that stood out to us the most. Everything in the image almost has a luminescence of it’s own. The light at this time of day proved to be a very successful time for this photo.

We love the way Jenny has captured the tide in a freeze motion, along with how the soft, warm subdued light is reflected back onto the wet sand.

The Seagulls add to the tranquil feeling of this photo. Flying high, suspended in the breeze, they certainly have a life of their own. They lift the composition and add weight to the story of the image.

We’d love to see how Jenny would do panoramas. I am sure they would turn out just as beautifully as this shot.

Jenny, well done to you and a big congratulations on winning this months photo competition. You deserve it. :)
