Theme : “Beautiful Seasonal Landscapes”

Congratulations Julie for this fabulous photo. You have captured the dry, caked land so well. It’s clear that the photo is consistent with the topic through the composition and light. The hard afternoon light has created some effective contrast and allowed us a glimpse into this harsh SUMMER landscape.
The composition also supports the feeling of an arid and unforgiving condition. 2/3rds of the image is filled with the landscape and as a result has conveyed the story extremely well. The dead tree to the left in the background works to emphasize the harsh landscape.
The large cracks in the land in the foreground are strong and disappear a little towards the middle of the image. This graduation from strong to fine help create a leading line affect by guiding our eyes to the back of the image.
The image gains it’s strength from the hard light and composition, plus the inclusion of other elements that help support the story; dead trees, flare to the right.
Thank you Julie, a terrific photo!
