Judge’s Feedback:

Well done on a powerful and dramatic photo! The story of this photo tells me that the life we know as a tree has more significance and plays a huge part in human life. The use of the very tiny subjects (the woman and the dog) and the very tall trees, along with the angle expresses a reverence for nature and the commanding presence of trees. Perhaps the true message of this image tells us that no matter our folly, nature prevails.

The way this image has been shot has been a major aspect in how Arnold has told the story. I assume a long lens used, zoomed in a fair way and tightly cropped the frame to express the dominance of the foreground. This technique allows us to engage emotionally with the message.

I wonder how much more could come out of this photo. Would it express a different message if the woman and the dog were not there? Would it convey the same message if it were shot only using moonlight?

I’ll let you think on that.

Congratulations on a great photograph Arnold.

Great Shot Arnold. I would think the lady and dog make it more impressive. Very nice, hope you frame it, so peaceful.
All others were great, I don’t envy the judges.
Ann your shot looks just like a spot in Brown Hill Creek, where if I had been thinking I could have made a half effort to yours.

    Cheers Derek.

      Hi Derek,
I was wondering if your pic was in Grafton.
      Mine was in Hurstbridge Vic.
Is Brown Hill Creek in SA?

I hope you & all our fellow contestants have a wonderful Christmas Season & bring on 2017!!

Better late than never, Christmas time say no more.
My shot was a street in a Southern suburb of Adelaide.
Brown Hill Ck is bottom of foot hills SE of Adelaide.

        Happy New year to all.
        Cheers Derek.

    • Arnold says:

      Thanks Derek

I saw the lady coming and thought the same thing. Trees are tall and to have someone like this lady beside the trees shows off just how tall these trees are. As to printing. Absolutely.

Marion, I just love your picture. It looks like it could be up North? Such clarity.
