August 2012: Focus Comp Results

Winning Photo

Theme : “Doors”

Focus Ezine Photography Competition

Camera data TBA

Why Robin won:

We have had the pleasure of observing Robins progress and wonderful development as a photographic artist. He has come such a long way and I am so proud to not only have Robin as a valued subscriber to FocusEzine, but have a connection with him through photography.

This photo really does have a voice of it’s own. The tone, texture and lighting make up a wonderful story. The photo feels mysterious and it instills curiosity… what is up those stairs? What will we find?

The simplicity is one of the things that make this photo truly interesting. We can enjoy the interesting texture and tonal range of the walls and door way. The difference in the light coming from outside and the light on the doorway is a contrast and one that works exceptionally well.

Congratulations Robin!

Thank you to everyone for your comments i feel very proud to have won especially when there are so many great shots.Jake I wish i could take credit for the light but it was pretty much how i saw it. Perhaps photographing into the harsh lights on the steps naturally soften the light in the foreground. The location is a magical place built by an artist for artist’s so i would say that light played a big part in its design and construction back in the 30′s.www.montsalvat.com.au
