Ann has done it again! This time with her clever use of lighting she has captured a successful photo for this month’s theme “Black”.
We loved her use of composition with the dominoes leading our eye into the front domino. The way she has placed the dominoes create a simple and effective composition where things are busy yet somehow remain quite simple.
The short depth of field has been used to enhance this leading line affect. This is a common technique used by professional industry photographers and skilled enthusiasts to help draw attention to a specific area.
Black subjects on a black background is a very difficult technique to attain at the best of times. When mastered successfully we find that there is a clear distinction between the black background and black subject. It’s hard to photograph but when done right the result is fantastic.
Ann, we’re so proud of your great work. We love seeing your work and happy to award you as this month’s winner. Well done and thank you for not only a technically competent and skilled image but an artistic one too. A big gold star to you

Thank you very much for taking the time to submit your photos. You have done a great job. We have a limitation of one Winner and 8 finalists photos. This is due to the wonderful success and popularity of Focus Ezine and that we are now getting a large number of entries each month. If you don’t see yours here it’s not because we didn’t like it, it’s simply because of space limitations.
Please add your comments about any of these great photo efforts at the bottom of the page.
