Deborah’s photo of these pink boots ticks all the boxes. It’s well exposed, it has nice side light from a window and the composition is beautifully balanced. The subject matter is very simple, with an uncluttered background which makes for a terrific photo. Nothing is competing for our attention which always works extremely well. It’s always a good idea to keep the photo very simple, it has more impact that way.
The background is darker than the foreground which helps us to keep focused on the boots and the fabulous pink fluff at the top. The background has some texture too which helps support the story of the subject. A little bit of texture works nicely with a darker background.
43mm is a great focal length for the boots. I like the vantage point. Shooting from above indicates a feeling of submissiveness and in this photo, seems to work very well. The focal and vantage point almost tell a story of the boots being a comforting friend and serve the wearer well. Had Deborah taken the boots from below (placed them high) we certainly wouldn’t feel this way about them.
A great job Deborah!
