Macro Photography is one of the most enticing ways to shoot digital photography. Macro photography really means that the subject is pretty much the same as what you are taking photographs of (equal to the real size of the subject). The macro photography image can also be defined as the subject being larger than the “true” size of the subject, but it also means it is never smaller than the sensor size.
When film photography started becoming less popular and digital photography started becoming more mainstream, macro photography has enhanced appeal. I personally love it because not only does it offer us a chance to “see” up close, but it gives us a whole new perspective on the world that would otherwise not be possible.
So lets have a look at some macro photography ideas to help you create some interesting and stunning macro photography images.
Firstly, start off with some small, and even tiny subjects that you get close to without creating out-of-focus shots. You can use a macro photography lens, or, some close up filters to do the job.
Macro Photography Idea- Number 1:
Blades of grass or grass-like plants, such as wheat, look fascinating as macro photography images. Not only do we get a sense of the deep lines in the tip of the blade, but we can also enjoy the symmetry and interesting shape we wouldn’t otherwise see from a distance.
Macro Photography Idea- Number 2:
Silver or Gold Coins In Black and White
Any small object that is made of silver, gold or metal, shot in black and white, looks stunning as a macro photography image. We get to enjoy every grove, every indent and smooth surface of a coin in macro photography. It provides us with a very different view of the surface of a coin. The surface of a coin in macro photography looks interesting due to it’s multiple surface manipulations.
Here is another shiny, metallic surface you may want to consider in your macro photography: Bronze.

With the right lighting you can capture not only the interesting shapes and patterns will be in vegetables but also take advantage of the light creating intense green. due to the fact that vegetables can be many different colours such as purple, offers a completely different perspective on shooting food as a macro photography subject. You can see in this photo above not only do we enjoy the bright green of these herbs but we also can see every line, groove, and shape.
Another fascinating detail that I absolutely love the macro photography, and shooting things that are natural from the ground, is that we can see the supreme order in patterns of the subject.
Macro Photography Idea – number 4
A close-up of a treble clef becomes a very interesting macro photography image. When you are shooting close-up shots of designs or musical notes on paper then it is advisable to watch your lighting. Your lighting can quickly disappear when you are shooting macro photography indoors. Make sure you have your treble clef and musical sheet very well lit.
The great thing about shooting a musical sheet is that you will also get the texture of the paper. Macro photography images just of paper online may not provide an interesting image however the beautiful swirls of the treble clef, complete with musical notes give us something beautiful.
Macro Photography Idea – Number 5

Taking a close-up shot of an animal’s face and nose gives us the perspective of the animals cute curiosity. Make sure the animal is friendly of course!
This photograph above is of a bull, however you may want to start practising on your dog or cat first.

A piano is a beautiful macro photography subjects. We can enjoy the smooth white keys in contrast with the sleek black keys. the contrast in the smooth keys accompanied by some soft, subtle lighting, will offer you a beautiful macro photographs.
Try shooting the piano at an angle to create some interesting diagonal motion. This diagonal motion accompanied by the symmetry of the keyboard doesn’t conflict but instead gives us an interesting viewpoint of this beautiful musical instrument.
